Happy 4th of July from Lookout Mountain

We were hoping for a neighborhood parade this morning for our first Fourth of July on Lookout Mountain.  Well, thunderstorms and the mountain fog has changed our plans.  The parade is now postponed.  But I took the girls outside, who had their patriotic outfits planned and took a few photos all the same.  And then they went inside and created their own parade.  We played patriotic music from here, which they really like, especially after learning the songs and learning about the songs last year.  So with a little creativity, boxes and tape, decorations, dolls, bubbles, and music a parade still took place.

The lyrics for My Country ‘Tis of Thee (America) seemed especially profound to me today, so I included them.  Plus, it is my first time celebrating our country’s independence from a mountain– one that has soil that knows the cost of freedom.

Happy Fourth of July!!
