I’ve just returned from a jam-packed work weekend in California. And because I haven’t put it on the blog yet, I have to first say that I’m really so thankful and grateful to be able to continue working in California, and for all my clients who wait until I come into town. (Next time looks to be April 2014). I also absolutely love that so many of my clients become friends and are people whom I just adore. Without exception is the H. family. I was able to photograph mom Michelle’s ah-maze-ing costume birthday party. She put so much thought into everything, and the details went a long way in making it a fabulous party and everybody really had a great time. Plus her guests went all out with their historical costumes. I kept smiling as I looked around to see the most amusing scenes: Frida talking to Betsy Ross, George and Martha Washington mingling, a Middle Eastern government peace treaty with a little Western influence, King Arthur with a sword, all sorts of kings and queens in discussion, Marie Antoinette, Spartacus, William Wallace Braveheart style, the roaring 20s ladies and the gangsters, even the Lone Ranger came with Marilyn Monroe, and Bert and Mary Poppins were supercalifragilisticexpialidocious… oh there were so many. I was so impressed with everybody’s effort and their stunning costumes– it was all done so well. Also, it couldn’t have been a more beautiful night, and even though a little cool for Californians 😉 there were plenty of outdoor heaters and cozy fires to warm up by. Or you could hit the dance floor, complete with a disco ball, and definitely warm up that way. Also impressive was the amount of people who got their groove on.
There was delicious food that steamed and sizzled, dancing filled with smiles and laughter, touching tributes, worth-every-bite cake, and even milk and cookies at the end of the evening. The milk was served in little bottles with paper straws. Again– every detail was thought of and also thoughtful. I am so glad that I was able to photograph this party for the H. family. I can’t say enough good things about the night.
