So at first I did Coral’s maternity session, when sweet baby Quinn was still being knit in her womb. It was such a privilege and blessing to then get to capture her officially-arrived newborn portraits. And really, there isn’t much better than loving up on a newborn. We split this session into two parts, and also were able to incorporate her visiting aunt and grandma in some of the portraits. I’m so thankful we were able to shoot showcasing the beauty of Maui too. And the rest were shot in my home/studio with a combination of posed and candid looks. Really this is a little of everything.
I had scouted locations (which I always do) and then also collected some props that could be used for the session. (This is part of my job and creating the vision, and what I do for every shoot, not just for newborns. Props are meant to enhance the story.) Coral had some of the hair accessories, including the haku lei her friend made; and then I also had some props and a tie-back headband that we were able to use, as well as wraps and blankets. We also kept a subtle theme throughout the maternity and newborn sessions with pops of the color coral.
And after spending some time with these proud parents, and seeing them work together as a team to care for and fill their precious baby girl with love, I have to say they are off to an amazing start in parenthood and creating a beautiful family.

[…] This precious little girl is growing up on Maui and I am so thankful to capture some of these moments. These portraits were from the Mother’s Day Mini Sessions that we did and I love the love between mom and daughter already apparent. Even when baby girl Quinn wanted to sleep but powered through for these photos. Of course when a mama duck comes by and wants to be in the photos too, that always helps too. […]
