A mom and her sons– this is a beautiful relationship with mom, Kristin, and her boys. We photographed this just in time for Mother’s Day. And knowing that 9 and 11 year-old boys don’t always want to do a photo shoot, I renovated/repurposed a tire and made a tire swing for a little extra fun. (Renovated or repurposed–either word may be a little far-reaching, but I think they work. I mean, I may have also just watched a season of Fixer Upper on Netflix too.)
Before this photography session, I worked with Kristin on outfit choices, and what she already had. Then I went text-message shopping with her. (She shops, texts me pictures, and I text back. Then we put it all together.) Once I arrived to set up with the tire swing prop, with my tall, helpful, handsome, and athletic husband, I started stretching– my mind. This beautiful Wailea beach was such a wonderful spot that it was also popular for two other weddings, as well as plenty of beach goers. It took a little creativity and the wonderful willingness of this family, but we were able to still create something special. Something that will grace their walls wherever they call home, and this slideshow that will remind them of times past, times that passed too quickly, even while slowing down.
