I seriously love when I get client inquiries and when I learn the stories of each person and why they want a professional photo shoot. When mom Danielle started chatting with me I learned about how special this trip was, with her parents, brother, sister and her own family– complete with 3 children including a 3 year old, she was nervous about her youngest, and convinced he wouldn’t do well with this. But I reassured her this is what I do, as her professional photographer, and I would be honored to capture all of them. They were coming to Maui all the way from New York for their family holiday. Now, any other session you see of mine, families aren’t exactly matching, there is more of a coordinated look. However, when Danielle’s mom found out they’d be doing photos the matching outfits was what she had in mind and so we went with it. They look beautiful and we had a wonderful mini session on the beach adjacent to the Grand Wailea. The sunset was beautiful, as were the surroundings, even with a crowded beach and a lot of people trying to capture the sunset, we were able to carve out a nook for plenty of memories to be made. And the best part, the part where I was walking away so thankful for the session we just had; and then Danielle’s 3-year old was walking back towards the hotel, and, unprompted, he stopped, looked across the beach to find me, waved, and as loud as he could he called out, “Thank you!” My heart melted. I hollered back, “You’re welcome.” Then Danielle and I both signaled in mom-code our melting hearts.
