Waterways & Ways of Charleston Life
When you think of Charleston, you may think of it as a vacation destination. Or maybe you’re like me and you call it “home.” A year in, and I’m so amazed that this is where we are, and I couldn’t be more thankful for how beautiful it is here. Every time we drive over the bridge, I am glancing over at the river– it’s dreamy. The river is full of stories already told and many yet to be written. There is an entire boat life aspect of Charleston too– and it is definitely a perk of living here.
I had a vision for this shoot, and was so excited to connect with the “O” family to make it happen. Yes, they are a gorgeous family, but that kind of gorgeous that is inside and out. So my goal was to get them to shine. Before the photo session, mama M and I collaborated on outfits, and I even made a house call to help her sort it out. And the day of the session we kept watching the weather report because a Tropical Storm was supposed to come on through. But the Maker gifted us with a beautiful night and sunset. As you can see, we had the best time on their boat…
Here is the behind the scenes sneak peek, including a little of me in action…
Overall, there is just so much beauty out there on the river. Charleston has a few key rivers, and this here is the Stono River. I definitely will be doing more boat sessions, especially with the warmer weather we will have for awhile.
Here is a digital slideshow video too:
My Favorite Things
To summarize, boat sessions are my new favorite! I am definitely looking forward to collaborating with more families and folks who want their own boat photography session. Lowcountry living doesn’t get much better than time on the boat, especially on an epic day out on the river. Not only that, but we didn’t have much boat traffic, and did have plenty of blue skies, a beautiful sunset, glistening water, and dolphins to top it off. Country songs are written about moments like these, and for good reason.
Boat Memberships & More
If you don’t have a boat, the bonus is there are boat club memberships and boat rentals available too. But whether you live here or are coming to visit, do get out on the rivers to experience some of the best of Lowcountry living and the ultimate of Charleston life.
And here are a few of their favorite photos:
