Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island is adjacent to Kiawah Island and Johns Island, just a half hour or so from Charleston. I’ve been told by local residents there, to not promote their island– they like that it doesn’t get a lot of attention. There are many boardwalks that lead out to the miles of beach, and there is both oceanfront and riverfront beaches to enjoy. There are also plenty of roads to ride bikes on, courts to play tennis on, horseback riding, and wildlife to enjoy. Just outside the gates, you can hit Freshfields Village for dining, groceries, and shopping. And if you want a local favorite coffee shop, complete with wine and beer, head to the nearby The Hemingway.
The Photo Shoot
They were gathering together on Seabrook Island for their annual family vacation. This family left me smiling and so grateful for my profession where I get to meet so many fantastic people. They are a North Carolina family, and the mom and dad have such a generous spirit that has definitely been passed down to their kids. The son serves in the military, and the daughter (Mrs. Z) and her husband were college athletes. Mr. and Mrs. Z’s height difference is within an inch difference of my husband and I so I loved that. But even more so, she was a college gymnast as well! Thus she rocks her green and white gingham dress. And their little boys are just so sweet and full of energy. I got plenty of high fives and smiles from them too. I brought the sand buckets for the boys, which added to their delight. And when those boys took on the ocean, we just took off their shirts. There is so much goodness in the simplicity of beach family time.
While there was a little drizzle at the beginning of the shoot, it didn’t stop us, and it let up quickly. Their attitude to just enjoy their time together definitely showed up in their photos. Don’t you think?
