A Typical Sunset in Maui | Fire Twirling

This little post is because life is totally like this living in Maui. You go to the beach, and sometimes, a flash mob of hula begins– always starting with that one grass-skirted hula dancer. Sometimes people greet you with sweet-smelling leis, just full of the aloha spirit. Sometimes, a young keiki is taking conch-blowing lessons. Other times there are ukelele lessons, of course. And then sometimes, after sunset, a man comes out and starts dancing with fire. Oh wait, that happened. For real.

Although he was applauded by all nearby, who were totally delighted with his impressive fire twriling performance, he left sooner than I could catch him. I’d love to get this photograph I snapped to him, if any locals might know who he is please let me know. Mahalo!

(Disclaimer for Tourists to Maui: I am yet to see, although I would love to, a hula flash mob, or a hula dancer at the beach. I have also not seen leis given, conch-blowing lessons, or ukelele lessons. I have seen honu (turtles), whales, seals, and gorgeous sunsets though. Oh and happy, relaxed people too.)
